Welcome

Originally from Portugal, I have been a photographer since 1985. I obtained a qualification with the British Institute of professional photographers, LBIPP in portraiture.

I went to America to receive further training in portraiture. My instructor was the master photographer Monte Zucker famous for his classic photography - his precision lighting technique was without equal.

I run a wedding and portrait business but in the last few years my love for photography has extended to nature and wildlife. I have had many opportunities together with my wife to travel and photograph wildlife. To be in a mountain environment and photographing in reasonable safety meant that we had to take a qualification as mountain leaders. The two skills complement each other.

Walking up a mountain in safety with a full pack of camping and photo equipment is a challenge. Weak knees make the down journey even harder. The real adventure starts when searching and waiting for the best light, untold number of journeys haven't produced one single worthwhile shot.
Low cloud, a sudden thunderstorm, falling into mountain rivers and more, has been the excuse.

So far no major equipment losses have been incurred, the same cannot be said of the knees and legs - bad injuries to feet and knees have taken place.

Acquiring Photoshop skills transformed the possibilities of photography. In my commercial chemical darkroom I developed and printed black and white and colour film.

The electronic Lab has been a great photographic revolution.
